Privacy policy

UpWeGo BV ("we", "our", or "us") operates the ScanGPT mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

When you use ScanGPT, we collect the following information:

• Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and a unique identifier from your authentication provider.
• Receipt data: Receipt images and PDFs you scan, select, share into the app, or import from a connected retailer, along with extracted store names, dates, items, prices, and totals.
• Shared-space data: If you create or join a household or business space, we store membership information to enable receipt sharing.
• Retailer connections: When you connect a retailer, access and refresh tokens are used to retrieve receipts. Refreshed tokens may be temporarily stored on our servers to return them to the app.
• Usage Data: We collect basic analytics about app usage to improve our service.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the receipt scanning and organization service
• Enable household sharing features
• Calculate and display spending statistics
• Improve our app and services
• Communicate with you about your account

Data Storage and Security

We use Google Firebase for account and receipt storage. Original receipt files are stored in Firebase Storage and receipt records in Firebase Firestore. Connections to these services use HTTPS. Access to receipt records is limited by account and shared-space membership. Keep any original-file link you choose to share private to its intended recipients.

Photo library access

You choose the images and files to import. The app does not currently discover receipts in your photo library automatically in the background.

Tracking and Advertising

We do not use your information for third-party advertising:

• We do not link your data with third-party data for advertising purposes
• We do not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers
• We do not use any advertising SDKs
• The analytics we collect (via Firebase Analytics) are first-party only and used solely to improve our app

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your data may be shared in the following circumstances:

• Shared-space members: Members of a household or business space can view receipts shared within that space.
• Connected assistants and recipients: If you authorize an MCP client, it can access receipt information available to your account. If you share a receipt or original file, the recipient receives the information you share. The recipient or assistant provider may apply its own privacy policy.
• Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google) for data storage and authentication, and Google Gemini for receipt text processing.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law.

ScanGPT uses the following third-party services:

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data
• Withdraw consent for data processing

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Children's Privacy

ScanGPT is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
